Pierce County 4-H Horses
Important updates and Notices

Did you know our Pierce County 4-H Qualifying Shows host over 115 exhibitors in two days, and over 140 horses! And did you know the preperation for these shows takes approximately 15-20 hours prior to the day of a show?  This is why we have a PRE-ENTRY cutoff date.

Please be aware the PO Box is on the other end of the county as the volunteers prepping the show.  Anything postmarked after the 28th won’t be picked up until the day before the show and therefore will be put in the “Post-Entry” stack.

What does POST ENTRY mean?  It means you cannot enter Showmanship or Medals classes at this show and the class fees are $10 rather than $6.

When is the PRE-Entry Deadline?

PAYPAL Submittal via WEBSITE, TUESDAY, JULY 3, 2017, Midnight

There will be NO EMAIL entries accepted

How do you make a change to your qualifying show entry?

Email pc4hhorseleaders@gmail.com or use the Contact US form on the website.  PLEASE state in your Subject:  JULY QUALIFYING SHOW CHANGE

What is the minimum I need to qualify for Pierce County Fair?  First, Every Exhibitor/Horse combination must show in a Showmanship class at a qualifying show.  In addition, they must qualify in every class they want to participate in at Fair.  Examples:  I want to sign up for Barrels at Fair, I must ride a Barrels class at one Qualifying show.  I want to ride in Huntseat Equitation, I must ride in a Huntseat Equitation class at one Qualifying show.  This goes for ALL DIVISIONS. (Note in Gaming youth are required to receive at least a white ribbon to qualify in an event.)

Second, every Exhibitor must complete 3 approved Educational Activities (4 if you want to qualify for a State Fair Team), see the Get Qualified Form for specifics).  PLEASE CHECK OUR Educational Activity Log to be sure your attendance has been tracked.  If not, COMPLETE THE VERIFICATION FORM (Ask your Club Leader to sign the verification if necessary) and submit no later than the July 8-9th Show.  You can submit your questions and verification form via email to our points chair.

HORSE DEPT. FAIR T-SHIRT LIST Each year the Horse Department sells t-shirts that list every Horse Exhibitor at this year’s Fair.  CLUB LEADERS please email evanrub@aol.com your club list by JUNE 30TH so the design can be created.  The list needs to have “Child’s Name – Horse’s Name – Age Division”.  As soon as the design is confirmed the online store will open for orders.

POSTERS MUST BE ENTERED PRIOR TO JULY 7TH  Hopefully you have gone to FairEntry. com and entered your Poster entry.  If not you have until July 7th to do so.

RECORD BOOKS and POSTER are due at the qualifying show. Connie plans to set up in front of the barn (by the wash rack) for collection.

The Horse Entry will be open on July 8th through July 13th.  Entries MUST BE DONE THROUGH FAIRENTRY.COM! (You should be sure your HORSE is entered into the 4HOnline program now, this will make your entry much easier later.) Every entry will be checked with our Qualifying Show reports, to confirm exhibitors have qualified for each class.  We will try to have tablets and a hotspot available at the Qualifying show to take entries, but you must be able to log into your 4HONLINE account,  so be sure you bring your log in information! You can do your entry from home as well.   (Note, last year we had a family who entered “everybody’s” Fair entries into FairEntry.com.  This will NOT HAPPEN this year!  You are responsible for your own entries).  If you have difficulties with the program or logging in, please contact Mike Seiber at the 4-H Office.  Mike.seiber@wsu.edu

HORSE DEPARTMENT ARTS & CRAFTS will be accepted at Fair Haul in but you must enter them via FairEntry.com prior to July 20th so entry cards can be printed and ready upon check-in.

FAIR IS COMING FAST and there will be a lot of information coming out the next month.  Please check your emails often or check the Website News Page to be sure you haven’t missed anything!

REMINDER:  Mandatory Parent Leader’s Meeting is Wednesday, July 19th at the Pierce County Library Admin Building on 112th.  If your club doesn’t send a representative your club will not be able to participate at FAIR!
